(February 10, 2009) – In the go-go days of a roaring economy, it was easy to just order movies, music and books from Amazon, Netflix or Blockbuster. We aspiring tightwads, however, know a much cheaper way to entertain ourselves. We go to that old haunt of the pre-Internet days, the public library.
There are two libraries relatively near me. Both are on bus routes if I don’t want to spend money driving, and one is even within biking distance. Both have thousands of DVDs – Hollywood movies, TV shows, PBS documentaries, NOVA, and much more. They have thousands of CDs with music from Beethoven to The Beatles to Bocefus with even a little Wil.i.am and Fergie.
Plus, the library has books – lots of them. And you get them free. Can’t get much more tightwad than free.
